Summary
The emission of carbon dioxide is a major factor in global climate change, and transportation accounts for about 20% of the total. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) play a crucial role in the transition to carbon neutrality and also in responding to the diversification of lifestyles and values. In BEVs, which lack internal combustion engines and are equipped with batteries of limited energy density, it is essential to enhance energy efficiency without compromising user comfort and convenience. This paper introduces DENSO CORPORATION 's (hereinafter, referred to as "DENSO") holistic energy management approach to address this challenge. This approach involves leveraging the thermal management and component technologies developed over the years, along with new technological advancements, to efficiently generate heat, appropriately distribute it, utilize it without loss, store unused energy, and convert it as needed. By optimally controlling these systems according to different scenarios, DENSO aims to achieve energy circulation. This holistic energy management strategy aims to balance energy efficiency with user comfort and convenience, ultimately reducing the thermal energy consumption of mobility to virtually zero.
