Summary
The paper presents design and operation of an outer rotor permanent synchronous machine (PMSM) with position-sensorless control using the so-called INFORM method. The continuous torque of the air-cooled machine is about 310 Nm, peak torque is about 490 Nm. The constructed machine is also short-circuit-proofed and achieves a high field weakening range.
