Summary
As fullline automobile manufacturers committed to addressing global fuel consumption concerns, environmental issues, and consumer needs, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, and BMW Group have embarked on a cooperation that will develop a TwoMode Hybrid system, offering the consumer choice and enabling broad application. This paper describes the customer driven requirements, the motivation of the cooperation, and the technical description of the TwoMode Hybrid system. The TwoMode Hybrid system is being developed to meet mainstream customer requirements. In addition, the cooperation between General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, and BMW Group can be seen as a model of enabling business & technical synergies amongst leading automobile anufacturers.
