Summary
Downsizing, in combination with intake air pressure charging is, today, one of the most promising opportunities for reduction of CO2-emissions from internal combustion engines. In the small size vehicle class, with relatively low engine displacements, 3 cylinders, instead of conventional 4 cylinder engines are increasingly being introduced. With any further decrease of engine swept volume the question will arise, if a further reduction of the cylinder displacement or, the introduction of 2-cylinder engines makes sense. Furthermore the cost sensitivity in this kind of vehicle class has to be considered when discussing any technical effort.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
