Summary

The production of the new safe secondary battery SCiBTM has been started since Apr. 2008. The Lithium Titanate Oxyacid (LTO) are adopted for the SCiB anode. SCiB is very safe relative to the internal short circuit because of the very low thermal runaway possibility which comes from the LTO anode characteristics. Experimental comparisons of the behaviors of the LTO and the Carbon anode concerning thermal runaway and internal short circuit are conducted.
