Summary

Acoustic problems of the engine intake system are conventionally treated using the finiteelement method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM) based on the standard wave equation. However this approach includes the assumption of wave propagation in a non-flowing medium, and in the case of the engine intake system this is not always realistic due to the relatively high flow velocities. For this reason a suitable mathematical theory was analyzed in the context of a fundamental research project. Furthermore the respective finite-element formulation for the wave propagation within a flowing medium was developed.

Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
