Summary
The new 6-cylinder diesel engine is the logical evolution of the 3.0 liter 6-cylinder diesel engine introduced in September 2008. This engine was derived consequently from the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine and fitted in engines of various power ratings in the majority of the BMW model lines. The core properties of this engine – sporty character combined with low consumption, lowest emission levels and excellent running smoothness – represent the present benchmark in the design of 6-cylinder diesel engines. Maintaining these BMW typical characteristics for the new 6-cylinder diesel engine the technical revision of the basic engine and the thermodynamic optimization result in a higher output and torque whereas the consumption and emissions are further reduced. This leads to a noticeably more spontaneous response of the engine while the already low running noise is decreased even more.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
