Summary

Steer-by-Wire (SbW) in racing. An idea that was unthinkable years ago, but which has now become reality in DTM thanks to the technology from Schaeffler Paravan Technologie (SPT). With more than 20 years of experience in disabled mobility and over 2 years of experience in racing, huge amounts of data flow into the development of the next generation. In order to align this development with the latest safety standards, state of the art development processes according to ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE were considered. The current status of the development speaks for itself: at component level, the maximum level of safety has been achieved. However, a fully redundant system was also achieved at the overall system level. By integrating the current system, its weaknesses were identified and these findings were integrated into the implementation of the form factor.
