Summary
The present paper commences with an introduction of the specialties of naval architecture and shipbuilding to generate a common understanding among the target audience, which mainly consists of experts from the automotive industry. This is required to understand why the simulation of marine propulsion plants, especially of hybrid plants, features specific challenges. In the following, the setup of the cosimulation tool HyProS is presented, and the results of a maneuvering performance simulation are shown exemplary for the crash stop maneuver of a liquefied natural gas tanker with a gas-fueled hybrid propulsion system.
