New Biosourced Component as a Building Block for High Performance and Sustainable Lubricant

Summary

Controlling fuel consumption more efficiently and improving its environmental impact are major challenges for the automotive industry. This has led notably to extraordinary engineering advancements made to the internal combustion engine (ICE). Further gCO₂/km savings are still achievable however by using a high performance lubricant.

To go beyond conventional lubrication, new raw materials have been evaluated. Our Structure-Performance prediction approach has led to the development of new advanced biosourced base stock system. Whilst using cleaner raw material was a goal, no compromise was made regarding overall performances. Indeed, the resulting excellent Fuel Economy performance is accompanied by engine durability gains, as demonstrated in various ACEA/Specialist engine tests.

Being committed to sustainability, it is believed that this innovative solution will be a building block for the high performance lubricants of the future.
