Summary

Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH has been developing LiDAR for autonomous driving since 1998. In May 2019, Dr. Ulrich Lages and the three main shareholders decided to reorganize the company structure towards a self-organization. They perceived this change as necessary to position the company well for the future. In this manuscript, it will be demonstrated, why mobility requires LiDAR and how complex the task is for the developers. It will be also shown why the fusion of different sensor technologies is crucial for a safe autonomous mobility. The second part explains how the self-organization is structured at Ibeo and which conclusion can be drawn from more than one year of self-organization. In the end, the question will be answered, why the development of a complex product like LiDAR benefits from self-organization.
