Zusammenfassung
Electric vehicle efficiency is key to minimizing the energy consumption of mobility. Electric motors contribute to a significant portion of the drivetrain losses in an electric vehicle. Currently, permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are the most widely used e-motor type. PMSM have a constant excitation; this means the excitation cannot be adapted to different operating points as it is the case with externally excited synchronous and induction machines. The PMSM excitation has to be designed for peak power requirements. The power offered by an electric vehicle is not fully utilized in most everyday driving conditions, even for non-sporty drivetrain layouts.
