Zusammenfassung

Because of the strict EU regulations, the majority of the automotive industry is challenged by reducing CO2 emissions. In this context, the increasing number of electrified vehicles and the requirement for consumer-oriented electric ranges have to be mentioned. One approach for those aims is the usage of low rolling resistance tires. Nevertheless, tire properties affecting vehicle dynamics and ride comfort cannot be neglected. Therefore, a deep understanding of the interactions between tire properties is inevitable in early development stages.
This paper describes a new approach to investigate the trade-offs resulting from a rolling resistance optimization. For this reason, the characteristics of specially built experimental tires are analyzed which show a big spread in tire properties.
