Zusammenfassung

The past two days have reminded us of what makes our industry so unique: • our drive to keep advancing, • always being one idea ahead of the crowd, • and refusing to be satisfied with the status quo. It’s this last attribute that I think is especially prevalent at this year’s symposium. And it’s one of the things that has made the Motor Symposium a Mecca for our industry. For research and development, the topic of “Driving the Future” poses an even greater challenge: completely reinventing individual mobility. This will require three fundamental changes: • A transformation in automotive manufacturing because the use of the combustion engine is under scrutiny—as least as the sole drivetrain, and in the long term. • A change in car markets. This is directly linked to the question of how our customers envision the transition. What is feasible? What is acceptable?
