Effizient und sicher vom Konzept zur Homologation – Der Ansatz der FEV Group zur Absicherung von Hochvoltspeichersystemen

Zusammenfassung

Addressing the increasing energy densities in high-voltage storage systems and therefore increased risk for thermal propagation, additional validation effort is required during development. FEV has introduced a frontloading approach to reduce this additional effort. Valuable data and findings from, to some extent, unrivaled test facilities are available at an early stage of the battery development process. Based on this expertise and data, key safety features can be validated virtually during concept development, long before real tests are performed in design and product validation stages.

FEV is also able to focus more strongly on risk protection in real-life tests. Such real tests will be necessary for homologations in China as of 2021 and probably other markets later on. As the following article shows, this will result in battery development that is geared towards the requirements of sustainable mobility in the short and medium term, while still meeting economic goals in general and safety targets in particular.
