Zusammenfassung
The BMW Group pursues a technology-open drive strategy, in which fuel cell drive is considered an emissions-free complement to e-mobility. The BMW iX5 Hydrogen demonstrates the potential of this technology. Key aspects include virtual design and simulation, which offer advantages in the development and optimization of the fuel cell system. The paper discusses various simulation approaches (0D, 1D, 3D), the continuous methodological development, and their application based on exemplary components (ejector and stack) as well as overall system modeling. This includes AI methods that allow for system simulation to be significantly faster than real-time. That enables the simulation of weeks-long cycles for analyzing degradation, which is intended to adjust the operational strategies in the scope of reliability optimization in the future.
