Effective and Correct IT Security Tests in the Automotive Environment

Summary

Modern automobiles are rolling computers with a high complexity. With the aim of connecting these vehicles with each other and with infrastructures and allowing them to drive fully automated or even autonomous, the manufacturers have set themselves some goals. If one considers how carelessly and negligently current systems, which are installed in the car or are coupled with it, are developed and implemented, then confidence in safety (safety and security) is unfounded.

The lecture argues that the challenges posed by the digitization of vehicles and their infrastructures require a rethink in product and system development as well as related tests. Even in design, IT security and data protection principles must be considered more conceptually and with regard to their later auditability.

Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
