Summary

More stringent NOₓ emission limits for EU6/EPA10 and requirements for “in-use compliance” represent a major challenge for AdBlue® preparation and are the key drivers for the development of future SCR systems especially for low temperature
applications. To further optimize highly efficient DEF process units requires a deep understanding of the impact of design parameters on urea processing, wall film and deposit formation.

This paper selectively analysis different influences for the DEF processing looking specifically at their principals by separating possible influence factors such as path extension, swirl effects, surface conditions etc. from each other in order to get a deeper
understanding of the single effects and to deflect the efficiency of the variants and a possible combination of multiple effects.
