Summary
Traction inverters are the most complex part of an eDrive system. Challenging performance and feature requirements accompanied by short development cycles can only be met by modular and flexible system architectures for hardware and software. Efficient integration strategies are required to master the complexity of
these architectures, enabling reuse of reliable and proven system elements.
As basis for the integration strategies a generic inverter architecture is described and the most relevant parts are explained in detail. Specific hardware and software representations of these modules are the basis for flexible reuse and one of the key elements for efficient integration. Strategies for these integration tasks are derived and methods described how the high complexity of such systems can be managed.
Finally an outlook to the mid and long term evolution of traction inverters is presented and impacts on their design and architecture discussed.
