Summary
The quattro with e-tron technology consists of two powered axles, whose torque distribution is controlled by an all-wheel drive controller. To overcome the limitations of the installed system performance, the actuation of all four wheel brakes is also integrated into the all-wheel drive controller. In this paper the architecture of the electric powertrain, the torque-vectoring functions and the all-wheel controller software with its torque- and slip-distribution are presented in detail. Measurement results show the superior properties of the quattro with e-tron technology regarding traction as well as driving dynamics.
