Einsatz multimodaler Signale im Fahrzeug-Cockpit zur Stärkung der Mode Awareness

Zusammenfassung

As part of a company-wide co-operation between the automotive suppliers ZF Friedrichshafen and Faurecia, opportunities were investigated regarding how the interior of today's vehicles as well as the communication between the driver and the vehicle can be refined. With the target of merging comfort and safety, a concept was developed that enables a high level of mode awareness and intuitive understanding of the transfer of responsibility in the context of automated driving. 
The concept was realized in the form of a prototype cockpit (Safe Human Interaction Cockpit), that, combined with an immersive driving simulation setup, enables drivers to experience firsthand multi-modal communication with the vehicle in different driving scenarios. The simulator was already used during development for micro-studies, in order to evaluate early project hypotheses and to further optimize usability with regards to user-friendliness and intuitive usage.
