Zusammenfassung

In the years to come, local authorities will have to deal with many challenges as urbanization and urban densification progress.

One challenge in particular consists in maintaining an adequate range of mobility services in rural areas or on the outskirts of major cities while at the same time minimizing negative environmental impacts from the transport sector.

There are many signs that the future of individual motor traffic at least will be at least partly influenced by autonomous driving in one form or another. Significant applications showcasing the special benefits of autonomous vehicles will be found in situations where autonomous vehicles uphold and expand individual mobility options, while enhancing local public and long-distance passenger transport.
