Zusammenfassung

Driving range of battery electric vehicles (BEV) is crucial to battery sizing and therefore the vehicle cost. Thermal management plays a major role in the vehicle efficiency and thus driving range. The integrated direct thermal management system from MAHLE offers an efficient, innovative and cost-effective solution, handling the different thermal tasks for vehicle cabin, battery and electric drivetrain in a holistic way. This system includes heat pump functionality, using all available heat sources like drivetrain waste heat and ambient as source to optimize driving range in winter even for high cabin heating demands. The performance and efficiency benefits are demonstrated by vehicle tests. Special attention is paid to ensure a maximum level of component integration with modules on refrigerant and coolant side, enabling further cost saving potential.
