Zusammenfassung
As climate change due to human made CO2 emissions proceeds, measures must be taken to reduce the emissions drastically. The transportation sector with a share of around 20% offers a huge potential to reduce these emissions. In automotive application electrification is the most common option, but especially in small vehicle application like two-/three-wheelers and all terrain vehicles of big markets like India, pure electric vehicles are not feasible due to charging infrastructure, range and component costs. In order to improve the CO2 emissions of mostly used conventional powertrains, this poster proposes a simplified hybridization approach, that allows to replace the continuously variable transmission, often used in small vehicles, by an electrified planetary gear set and few passive actuators. This allows an increase of the transmission efficiency and gains a huge potential for CO2 reduction. This poster focusses on the mechanical layout of the novel hybrid concept and presents the results of a prototype feasibility study.
