CO2-Analysis and Dimensioning of 48V Hybrid Drivetrains in Legal and Customer Based Cycles

In this paper, five 48V hybrid drivetrain topologies - P0, P2, P3, P0+P3 and P0+P4 - with various electric machine's power and 48V battery capacity are analysed in the WLTC, three RDE cycles and customer based cycles. A variable simulation model capable of considering different topologies is presented. In the WLTC, the best total system efficiency and thus highest fuel savings potential is achieved by a vehicle with a P0+P3 and P0+P4 hybrid drivetrain and a battery capacity of 1.0 kWh. The results mostly apply for the RDE cycles. In customer based urban and extra-urban areas, a vehicle with a P0+P4 topology has the best savings potential. On highways, differences
between all topologies are low. The impact of the additional P0 EM in a vehicle with a P0+P3 and P0+P4 topology is high compared to topologies with one electric machine.
