Zusammenfassung
The electric powertrain is gaining traction especially in applications where range anxiety and acquisition cost are underplayed, such as in fleets of delivery trucks, where the major competitive advantage is a reduced cost of operation over the whole lifecycle of the vehicles.
In this perspective, within the Reduction of lifecycle costs in electrical distribution traffic through individually adaptable drive train (LiVe) research project, a battery system with pouch cells has been designed and built both to be cheaply manufactured and to increase the value of used batteries by enabling battery overhaul and repurposing of cells. Moreover the tab cooling is very responsive in adapting to load changes, which could allow energy saving in the thermal management.
The present work outlines the feasibility of adopting cell tab cooling in the mass production of batteries for trucks to be used in fleets.
