Highly Efficient Hydrogen Combustion Engines as an Alternative to Fuel Cells and Electric Drives in the Commercial Vehicle Sector

The internal combustion engine is the most widely used and most complicated machine ever developed. By using hydrogen (H2) as the fuel, it is possible to increase efficiency, while lowering emissions to nearly ZERO. The use of H2 in engines is proven technology. Manufacturers (e.g. BMW, MAN, Ford, Mazda) continued to explore the potential of H2 combustion up until the last decade. However, due to technical limitations of combustion engines at this time, the development of the combustion
process was focused on combustion control, sacrificing the potential of engine efficiency and power density. With its innovative proprietary technology concept – incorporating an intelligent lean combination with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR),
turbo-charging and efficient injection – KEYOU is bringing back attention on the H2 combustion engine to show how powerful, efficient and emissions-free future engines can be.
