The Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2ICE) is an interesting option to eliminate CO₂ emissions on a tank to wheel basis. Due to the absence of carbon in the fuel and thanks to both extremely low engine-out NO_x and the effectiveness of modern lean NO_x aftertreatment systems it is also possible to largely eliminate toxic pollutants from this engine. This allows H₂ICE to meet the strong interest from global automotive markets for zero emission vehicles solutions which are economically attractive and can be scaled rapidly.
