Zusammenfassung

The long-term reliability and durability of fuel cells (FC) is important for their integration into heavy duty (HD) commercial vehicles, which are expected to last at least 25,000 hours. This is much more than for pass car (e.g. 5,000 - 8,000 hours) and therefore durability testing is of high interest for HD manufactures. Traditional Accelerated Stress Tests (ASTs) often fail to accurately reflect the real-world ageing effects of fuel cells due to their focus on isolated stressors such as start-stop cycles and load transients.
Therefore, FEV developed a methodology to derive an accelerated durability test (ADT) based on a fuel cell degradation model. This test does not destroy the system fast, but it reduces the testing time for customer relevant durability tests.
