Zusammenfassung

With the progress of highly and fully automated vehicles new and complex test challenges arise in the market. Especially in the area of EMC and cyber security the vehicles must be tested to be prepared for their task ”Reduction of accidents on public roads”.

To support the Left-Shift in the development V cycle, the transfer of testing of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving scenarios from Road to Rig is essential to serve the demand for increased reproducibility, cost savings and reduction of time to market.

To increase functional robustness and safety an increasing number of environmental sensors is de rigueur like a concerted use of camera, RADAR and LiDAR. Because of the importance of these sensors for safety it is necessary to test them in different stages according to state-of-the-art test processes. One of this new test artefacts is the EMC testing with working ADAS functionalities. Until now there is a lack of method for testing of ADAS/AD sensors embedded in the real vehicle. It is envisaged that ADAS will be added to the next revision of UNECE R10 – EMC in the area of immunity tests. HORIBA and TÜV Rheinland present an approach which allows to test the vehicle functions like Adaptive Cruise Control in the EMC chamber.

Current methods foresee the testing in real world and proving ground scenarios. This leads to non-reproducibility and higher costs for development.

HORIBA and TÜV Rheinland will show a technical approach of a Vehicle-in-the-Loop test under EMC conditions including setup and methodology usable for development and homologation. Vehicle testing is transferred into the laboratory without manipulation of internal vehicle systems. In this Road to Rig setup the embedded RADAR, Li-DAR and camera sensors are stimulated by the virtual environment. Until now there is a lack of method for testing of ADAS/AD sensor embedded in the cutting-edge vehicle.
