Zusammenfassung
Currently, there are a whole variety of hybrid vehicle architectures in development. Specifically, so called Axle-Split hybrid vehicles containing an electric axle drive and a high-voltage generator mounted to the combustion engine provide not only excellent fuel efficiency but also a considerable benefit in vehicle performance. By selecting one out of four different drive modes, the driver can experience specific and unique vehicle characteristics. This electric axle drive will be first used in Peugeot and Citroën vehicles in 2011. The paper introduces the Axle-Split system advantages, design components and its impact on CO2 reduction.
