Zusammenfassung

This paper deals with the modelling, control, and evaluation of the lateral dynamics potential of electric torque vectoring systems for a rear-wheel drive battery electric vehicle. The goal of such a system is to selectively distribute wheel torque to improve the lateral dynamics characteristics of vehicle handling. Conceivable systems for achieving this goal include an electric machine with clutches that can be controlled for each wheel individually, the dual modulation of electric machines and a superimposing torque vectoring machine. Their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed, and the handling of the vehicle is evaluated during various driving maneuvers and at various operating points.
