Zusammenfassung
For the facelifted A-Class, the two Mercedes-Benz petrol engines will receive a com-prehensive technical update including the electrification of the combustion engines with a mild hybrid technology. This involves the introduction of a 48-Volt belt-driven generator together with a 48-Volt battery, a DC/DC-converter and a 48-Volt water pump.
Another technical highlight is the turbocharging technology featuring double scroll turbines with a variable scroll connection. Together with a modified cylinder head, a maximum output of up to 225 kW is achieved.
Due to the great success of the previous models, the plug-in hybrid powertrain will be continued as a further component in terms of electrification for the facelift of the com-pact class.
The overall concept combines electric only driving in everyday life with a high performance potential and the long-distance comfort of conventional powertrains. The vehicles offers a combined system output of 160 kW and an electric range of up to 80 kilometers.
Moreover, the hybrid system can be charged fast and suitable for everyday use via three different charging systems (3.7 kW AC, 11 kW AC und 22 kW DC).
In addition to the 48-Volt belt-driven generator and the double scroll turbine with scroll connection, the smaller gasoline engine will also be equipped with a new injection system in order to significantly reduce emissions during cold starts.
