Zusammenfassung

Today, the biggest shifts in the automotive industry do not take place in the traditional fields of automotive engineering anymore, but are located in the areas of software and the respective control units. The software portion is steadily increasing and has become a decisive factor for vehicle characteristics. Due to the fact that customers expect regular over-the-air software updates, development cycles are increasingly being shortened.

To master these challenges, changes need to be made in the development process. For this purpose, the use of virtual development and test methods is ideal, as they enable cost- and time-efficient processes. In addition to a suitable simulation platform, suitable test cases as well as virtual vehicle models, so-called virtual prototypes, are required for testing.
