Summary

The growing market demand for electrified vehicles requires the development of efficient and reliable electric drive systems in relatively short development time. In an e-Drive development project, the pre-design stage plays a critical role in reducing the time-to-market in addition to ensuring a good coordination between different metier team members activities, hence, ensuring the overall success of the project.

In this scope, an e-Drive model of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) was built. It is used for system’s simulation and thermal management to optimize e-Drive performances and set constraints for sub-system design. The proposed architecture consists of a 25 kW PMSM with a dual three-phase winding, driven by a sixphase inverter. The dual-star configuration is a good way to provide increased efficiency, performance, and reduced noise.
