Summary

Hydrogen technologies and P2X technologies are scaling up rapidly. This will result in a strong cost decline of generation, storing and transport over the next years. The development from fossil fuel based towards a hydrogen economy will enable the use of hydrogen as a resource for other synthetic fuels like methanol or ammonia. Rethinking the use of these fuels in internal combustion engines relates to a number of questions to be answered. This publication gives an overview about which fuels fit to a specific application. Available technologies for the injection of fuel into the combustion chamber for the different combustion processes are presented. The Woodward portfolio addresses the named challenges with 3 different product platforms – SOGAVTM (Solenoid Operated Gas Admission Valve), MPI (Medium Pressure Injector), HPDF-Injector (High Pressure Dual Fuel Injector).
