Summary
If the drive shafts in electric motors are not grounded, electrical erosion can permanently damage shaft bearings. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has developed electrically conductive seals that exhibit very low impedance thanks to a thin conductive nonwoven on their exterior. The latest generation of this grounding solution draws away alternating current so well that it largely prevents the emission of electromagnetic waves, creating an effective way to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The long-term stability of the electrically conductive seals was demonstrated with an innovative test procedure.
