Summary
The development focus of future power train concepts is apart from the reduction of the exhaust gas emissions also the decrease of the fuel consumption and thus the CO2-emissions with driving fun rising at the same time. Diesel engines attained a constantly growing market share in Europe in the last years. For gasoline engines a high fuel economy benefit can be realized by utilization of the stratified, spray guided gasoline direct injection technology. A substantial success factor represents here the development of an innovative exhaust gas aftertreatment concept.
