Summary

Software-defined vehicles are transforming the automotive industry. The vehicle of the future will no longer be differentiated by mechanical characteristics, but by software related features.

As a consequence, current automotive development processes and R&D organizations must be rethought.

In this paper, we discuss needed changes with respect to the product technology itself, the product development process, the development competencies, as well as the organizationonal company structure.
