Summary

MAGNA STEYR has demonstrated its expertise in the fast growing niche market of alternative drive systems with the hybrid concept described in this document. A full hybrid vehicle has been built up. It shows essential benefits in driving performance and fuel consumption. The hybridisation of the drive-train has been realised with the E4WD module, which has been developed together with MAGNA POWERTRAIN and Siemens VDO. The highly integrated solution consists of two electric motors and four hydraulically actuated clutches. The demonstrator uses a lithium-ion battery as energy storage. Besides the development of single components such as battery control unit, cooling elements and housing, the entire system development has been accomplished by MAGNA STEYR.
