Summary
A large variety of biofuels are currently under consideration to replace fossil fuels in the long run. Among biofuels vegetable oils and animal fats are already used for stationary power generation. This publication deals with the use of those oils and fats in stationary diesel engines. The following topics will be discussed: •Discussion of the oil and fat parameters in comparison to marine distillate and marine residual fuels •Requirements on engine and plant •Discussion of engine adaptations realised for the use of vegetable oils •Operating results
