Summary

With its Audi Agenda strategy, Audi has decided on a clear path towards all-electric mobility with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). An important step in this process is the drive-specific platform strategy, through which individual model series are uncompromisingly tailored to the respective drive type. BEVs, as well as plug-in hybrids and models with conventional drives benefit equally form this.

In order to meet the requirements of all-electric premium vehicles in the 2nd half of the 2020s, the current technologies of axle drives will be significantly advanced. The main focus was on a scalable electric axle modular system with optimal acoustics, high integration, efficiency, and power density. In this way, considering weight, consumption, and performance variance, it was possible to develop an overall optimum for a platform with a wide range of requirements.

he development of our own platform for conventional drives allows them to unfold their full potential. A dedicated platform for the last, best combustion engines. What both platforms have in common is the electronic architecture – the E³ 1.2. It enables the implementation of new functional and further developments in both platforms at the same time.
