Summary
Following a technology open approach, and complementary to fuel cells, hydrogen engine powertrains are considered as a potentially attractive solution for future well-to-wheel and life cycle CO2 neutral mobility. The integration of hydrogen engines into hybrid powertrains can provide additional functional benefits. Within a joint research project, Aramco Europe, Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center, Robert Bosch GmbH and Umicore investigate the potential of such a powertrain for a passenger car application.
