Summary

In this paper, we investigate the development process of Electrical Power Steering (EPS) systems and identify necessary adaptions to develop future Steer-by-Wire steering systems (SbW). Moreover, we give a hands-on guide for designing a safety-com-pliant development process for SbW and propose a functional safety concept.
