Summary
Following the successful launch of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the engine range is now being broadened with a new 1.6-liter entry-level diesel engine. Thanks to a highly efficient base engine, developed by collaborative partner Renault and continued, focused component development, the engine raises the bar with respect to environmental compatibility and comfort in the premium mid-sized segment. Development activities focused on achieving ultra-low emissions, without compromising typical Mercedes-Benz attributes such as comfort and dynamic response. By employing steel pistons and a highly efficient second-generation SCR system, best-in-class emissions levels could be realized.
