Summary

Thanks to leading edge technology, hybrid applications are flourishing worldwide and are a promising but still expensive answer to environmental concerns. Valeo believes the mass market requires realistic, cost effective and reliable technical solutions applicable at wide scale to large diffusion vehicles so as to efficiently contribute to CO2 emission reduction. Development work focusing on an optimized business case has been carried out since the past years, from the first generation of belt driven starter alternator to the next generations with integrated electronics, from pure stop-start technology to stronger functionalities such as regenerative braking. Description, performances and applications of such products, especially the Valeo StARS +X system, are detailed in the next sections.
