Summary
Autonomous vehicle technologies have sparked a renewed interest in the development of autonomous shuttle transportation services. These shuttles have the potential to transform transportation systems by providing efficient, safe, and sustainable mobility solutions. However, significant challenges must be addressed before the promise of "fully automated" can be realized. Safety concerns, regulatory barriers, availability, operational costs, and public trust are all critical issues that must be tackled to ensure successful implementation. This presentation offers a roadmap for the successful deployment of autonomous shuttle transportation services in the United States. By analyzing the current state of the technology, identifying key challenges, and proposing solutions, this roadmap aims to address the obstacles to successful implementation.
