Summary
In the area of high-performance cooling of 46xx cells, variants that cool the cells at the circumference seem to be increasingly establishing themselves compared to cooling the cell base, the cell cover or the busbar. Arguments such as a low battery pack height, more uniform temperature distribution of the individual cells, degassing of the cells via the cell base and not least, the highest thermal performance required are often decisive. Water-glycol mixtures are primarily used as cooling media.
The Miba FLEXcooler® enables this type of cooling – the side cooling of 46xx cells - to be taken to a new level and to surpass conventional solutions in almost every important parameter. In addition, the FLEXcooler® scores with extremely simple assembly and disassembly in a battery pack or module allowing for easy rework or recycling. Furthermore, the reduction of different components and single parts necessary for cooling to the least minimum is leading to a significantly lower CO2-footprint on system level and is offering additional safety features in parallel.
