Summary

The automotive industry is undergoing a rapid transformation towards electromobility and digitalization. Electric drive plays a central role in this shift, both in terms of efficiency and automated driving. The Volkswagen Group has aligned its strategy accordingly, incorporating not only the development and production of electric motors but also power electronics into its in-house development portfolio.

As the software company of the Volkswagen Group, CARIAD is developing in close collaboration with the Group brands a scalable and rapidly evolving software architecture for driving functions of the Group's battery electric vehicles. Using the Vehicle Driving Platform within CARIAD, we demonstrate how agile and continuous software development enables a seamless functional architecture that spans from vehicle functions on the central computer to the control of power semiconductors in power electronics. The application of agile software development methods also allows for the rapid, secure, and continuous advancement of driving and control functions.
