Summary
This paper provides an overview on the Prospective Effectiveness Assessment for Road Safety (P.E.A.R.S.) Initiative and its objectives as well as achievements. The P.E.A.R.S. initiative started its work in 2012 with the objective to develop a harmonized
method in the prospective effectiveness assessment by virtual simulation. This method shall be to for quantitative safety effects of advanced driver assistance systems as well as of automated driving functions in a reliable and transparent way. The P.E.A.R.S
group consists of automobile industry, supplier, insurance companies, universities, and automotive research institutes.
